You'll always have doubters and haters and people who just don't get it.
But one irrefutable truth in life is that people act out of their self interest. Not their best interest.
You can try to teach a spoiled brat to earn things on his/her own.
But s/he will always revert to his/her self interest not their best interest.
You can always turn down a luxury car to earn and pay for it on your own...
That would in your best interest as you will know the value of hard work for a reward.
But, people know that most people, especially people in their circle don't ask questions of
"Did you buy this on your own?" as it is implied that parents just buy them things for living.
I see it everywhere. I have grown up in a very wealthy city where Trust Fund Babies run wild.
What is self interest? Self interest is interest that benefits the self, the Ego.
What is best interest? Best interest is interest that benefits the greater long term goals of the self.
Gymnasts who wake up at 4:00am to hit the horse is not in their best self interest. It's brutal.
But it's in their best interest if they want to reap the benefits of success tomorrow.
Today, people are handed success just for showing up. Yes, they are right. They ain't happy though.
