Happy Blog Birthday Melvin!

Film History class sitting and debating films that had no relevance to me, until my film prof David Annandale gave us the chance to do an essay on films the late 60s... Blaxpoitation films... I went lower in the order to the 30s but touched on van Peebles philosophy and many other African Americans trying to define their identity apart from the stereotypes and caricatures they were casted in earlier films...
I'll quote my prof once more...

"Spike Lee would have been nothing without Melvin van Peebles"

Between him and I took place... "Do the ends always justify the means?"
in short Peebles was an opportunist.

Quentin Tarantino and the generation he spawned...
